THE PITS TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP

Sit back and take a ride in one of the most exciting race cars to take to the track...the SuperTourer! The Pits proudly presents The Pits Touring Car Championship, designed to simulate the most technically advanced racing sedans in the world. Get behind the wheel of one of these 300+ horsepower machines, and see what it's like to take to the track, with super-low profile tires sticking to the pavement at every turn!

Patching...

In 1997, The Pits decided to embark on attempting to create a "new" sim using an existing one, NASCAR II, but basing it on one of the most successful and competitive forms of auto racing in the world. Over 20 different countries have a SuperTouring series, and we decided to create that same effect with our patch. So several of the best simulator editors combined their efforts to change a 3500 pound, 700 horsepower V8 stock car to resemble a low-slung, 300 horsepower V6, 2200 pound Supertourer that will turn on a dime. It wasn't easy, but the success that the touring car patch speaks volumes for how the end result turned out. Here's what we did...

Using David Noonan's track converter you can convert tracks from Indycar II. The conversion process creates new Artificial Intelligence for the opponents, which are some of the most competitive AI ever designed for a racing simulator. They are completely ruthless, and will attempt to pass you at every opportunity...you have been warned. As well, the AI for the existing road courses in NASCAR II, Watkins Glen and Sears Point (and the fantasy track, Bullrun) have been upgraded as well.

We created a new body to closely resemble the stock touring car appearance, complete with a lowered and shortened body. Plus, the new body incorperates new damage, new interior engine features, a rear wing and front sunshield. We didn't stop there. New alloy rims set off the ensomble, and the low-profile tires sit the car right on the pavement. And looks great!

We changed the sounds..to the roar of a high rpm V6. As well, we added new crash sounds, and the hiss of the airjacks that lifts the car from the ground in the pits.

Racing in the rain! Yep, the real touring cars do it, so why not you? We created 2 new tracks that simulate driving on a wet track...and it's pretty slippery! Don't be ashamed if you wind up moving some fence posts...hey, even the real guys do that occasionally...

Another new track, Mantorp Park was designed, and it works superbly...one of a kind. This track was updated and revised from an original Indycar II created track, done by Rob Hilpert and Rolf Filsburg.

New menus give it the feel of a whole new sim, and a new cockpit that was formulated to look like a touring car cockpit was constructed. You can even choose to drive a left or right hand cockpit!

The performance of the touring cars were created, with increased grip. Now you can throw that car into the turn at speed! As well, the colorful and creative paintschemes of the British and German touring series were created, for an overall impact that cannot be missed! To finish it off, a simple install program puts the whole thing together, and patches the NASCAR II sim to become The Pits Touring Car Championship.

MultiPlayer

This patch has been tested for racing multiplayer, and all functionality exists. Currently, you must create a driver's list called "multi", from that point on it will work.

The Championship

You want to really race these touring cars? Well, we have just the deal for you...The Pits Touring Car Championship is a new racing league run by Sean Staples, and he will be running the official League for The Pits. It will require the full version of David Noonan's converter, as all the road courses in Indycar II are used, along with Watkins Glen, Sears Point, and Bullrun.
